Ganny
Dear Sandy and Dave
I am sure you’ll be interested in these photos of Ganny He is a huge success here and beloved by all. He has retired from his dressage career. I think I wrote you that in 18 months of training and competition with Gretchen Singleton, he won the North Ohio Dressage Association Reserve Championship at Training Level. In one memorable show he won all four of his classes with an International judge. He is very talented.
Now he is ridden nearly every day year round by Jim or me, by Sam Lightbody, who learned to ride on him this summer, and in Friday mornings by a neighbor a small talented rider. Sam and his Dad Richard, are going out aventuring in what left of the Chagrin network of trail. Sam on Ganny and Richard on our 6 yr old mare Katie. He is bold and easy to manage on the trails. Next year he is slated to begin teaching little children and pony rides as our pony-ride pony is now 31.
He lives in the little paddock with the shed, which was especially drained for him by our son-in-law, Rick Noss to keep him out of heavy Ohio mud which soften his hooves. He gets turn off alone or with our other two ponies nearly every day. He loves it in the shed so much that he prefer to be there in the coldest weather even with his icyeles hanging off his coat. Occasionally when it gets really cold we put him in his stall but he can’t wait to get out to freedom. Standing at the gate, as in this photo, he can see all the comings and goings of the family.
He is very mannerly, good with our bouncing poodle, never kicks or rears or bucks under saddle. He is loads nicely, just as well as I take him to be shod every 6 weeks
Ganny is really what Connemaras are all about. We are so glad we found him.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you at Skyview Farm.
